Team Koru’s Matariki Film: A Stellar Adventure

Discover Matariki, the Maori New Year, through the eyes of our amazing kids. They had a blast learning about the stars and making this special film for you.

Watch as our tamariki take you on a journey filled with wonder and excitement. They put their hearts into this project, and it shows. You’ll learn about Matariki and have a great time watching their film.

This year our class was lucky to participate in Garden to Table. Once a week we worked in our school’s garden. We also prepared some delicious food in our school’s Wharekai. We would like to share our experience with you.

In room 8 we are all about being proud of our culture, where we come from and celebrating our identity. Everyone is unique and special in their own way. We celebrate our uniqueness and who we are everyday. Our film is about coming together, no matter where you come from or what language you speak. We hope you enjoy our film, and it inspires you to be proud of your identity.

Heyyyy You! Ever dreamt of lying on the beach? The sand between your toes and the sun rays beating against your skin? Drinking fresh coconut and listening to the sounds of the waves?

Yeah I know, we’ve all dreamt about it…anyhow, the point of this was to get you to imagine you’re in the beautiful island of Tonga.

Mauria te pono! Believe in yourself. If you believe in yourself, you have a great chance to achieve your goals and become successful in everything you do! We learnt this while working on creating our movie. Never give up because you might be just a tiny step away from your greatest success!

In term 2 we were given the opportunity to create and present a 3 minute skit to share with you as part of the Manakalani film festival. 

Our film is called Talent show. It follows our main character Mason on his Journey to find his hidden talent.
